Artist Biography:

Award-winning artist Anette Power credits her mom, who also paints, and growing up on an island off the Swedish coast for providing a childhood full of creative exploration and a love for the outdoors. This adventurous spirit brought Anette to the states where she spent more than a decade working in animation, fine-tuning her sense of light, color, and mood as a background painter for studios like Disney, Warner Bros., Cartoon Network and Universal.

She now paints full-time and is an artist member of the California Art Club and was an active board member of the Westlake Village Art Guild for eight years. She maintains a working studio in Newbury Park, CA.  Anette has had solo and two-person shows in Sweden and the U.S.; her work is held in private collections in North America and Europe, and she is grateful to have garnered some “Best of Show” awards over the years.

Having spent years painting on location to capture exactly what is there, Anette now works more often in her studio exploring a more personal interpretation of what she sees. She loves the draftsmanship and depth in realistic work but is also drawn to the flatness and shapes found in abstraction. Continually searching to find the sweet spot between abstraction and realism keeping the joy of light and color front and center.
